How can I buy a ticket?
Tickets are available for sale online, but we know that not everyone likes to pay online. If you prefer to pay in-person, you can pay at the door on Saturday, but you must register in advance. To pay at the door, select the invoice option for payment. We will be able to take payment by cash or credit card only onsite at the conference. If you choose pay by cash, please bring exact change as we won’t be able to provide change.
Where is SocapOtt this year?
We’re at Algonquin College in the T Building. On Friday, May 31, attendees will need to park in visitors parking and the fee will be $16 max. On Saturday, June 1, parking is free in lots 8 and 9. Here’s a handy campus map for your reference.
Will there be Wifi?
There will definitely be WiFi in the different session rooms. Definitely probably. Technical glitches happen and sometimes the system can be overloaded and we appreciate your patience when these problems arise. Find one of the organizers in orange or tweet us at @SoCapOtt to let us know if you’re having problems.
Can I tweet during the sessions? Can I blog about it afterwards?
Please do! There will be many people tuning in to see what’s going on. Use #SoCapOtt so we can all follow the conversation. If you plan to live blog and post it on your website, let us know and we’ll post a link to your site when we do our final roundup post. Last year we were trending and we hope to do the same this year!
What should I wear to Social Capital?
You can’t go wrong with “business casual” attire, and maybe a light sweater if you’re the type of person who gernally finds AC a little on the chilly side. The organizers will be wearing various shades of orange so they’ll be easy to find.
What time does it start?
The conference officially begins at 7:30 a.m. Please arrive around that time so we can get everyone checked in at the registration desk. Officially scheduled events begin at 8:30 when our emcee steps up to the mike, and you don’t want to be late – we start on time!
The workshop day begins at 9am and registration will be open as of 8am.
I was just looking at the different sessions available. How is that going to work? And what do you mean by “law of two feet”?
You don’t need to sign up for any sessions or roundtables. Just show up! The law of two feet means that if the session you’ve chosen isn’t meeting your needs you are free to pick a different one. However, as a courtesy to the speakers and to the other attendees, please make sure your exit is swift and silent. Thank you!
What do I need to bring?
Note-taking devices are recommended, whether it’s a laptop, tablet, smart phone or good ol’ fashioned pen and paper. (No batteries required!) Some people are bringing business cards too, but this is totally up to you and what you want to get out of your experience at Social Capital.
What if my batteries die?
Do not fear! Chevrolet will be setting up a special recharge station and making sure our devices stay charged throughout the day.
You mentioned a couple of sponsors here, who are the others?
You can check out our generous sponsors here. We couldn’t do this without them. Thank you sponsors!
I can’t make it, can I get a refund?
Unfortunately we can’t issue refunds. You can however sell or transfer your ticket to someone else.
If you have any other questions, please let us know!
